Stanisław Lem European Research Prize – invitation to participate in the competition

We would like to invite you to take part in the competition for the Stanisław Lem European Research Prize (Lem Prize), established by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wrocław Tech) to commemorate the 100th birthday of the great Polish visionary and science fiction novelist.


The competition is open to young scientists up to 40 years old, associated with a university or research institution in an EU or Horizon-associated country and in Switzerland.


Lem Prize is awarded for a recent scientific achievement or discovery made within last 3 years in broadly understood field of science and engineering, with strong elements of technology, interdisciplinarity, creativity, and vision.


The competition application along with the required documents must be submitted electronically by October 15, 2021. The winner will be announced a month later, that is November 15, 2021, during the annual celebrations of Wroclaw Tech anniversary.


The winner will receive a cash prize of PLN 100,000 (or the equivalent in EUR) and will be invited to Wrocław for the celebrations on November 15th. The winner will also receive a voucher for a 1-2 week stay in Wrocław, which will include, among others, giving a series of lectures and getting to know the biggest attractions of the city. The costs of stay are fully covered by Wrocław Tech.
