Department of Energy Consumption Technologies # 205

The Department prepares bachelors of the module - "Electro-Tech Machinery and Electric Power Supply of Complexes" of the specialty - "Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering", masters of the master program thematic – “Electro-Tech Machinery and Electric Power Supply” and doctors of the specialty - “Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering”.

The students will study in the department: electrical engineering equipment and complexes, automatic management of electro-technological equipment and complexes, power supply systems of electrical engineering equipment, complexes and cities, electrical equipment and apparatus of the power supply systems, power substations, electric lighting networks, protection, control and accounting systems of electrical engineering equipment and power supply systems, their design, installation, maintenance and operation services.

According to the Bachelor’s Program, study of nine major subjects is envisaged by the module (“electrical engineering equipment and complexes”, “control systems of electrical engineering equipment and complexes”, “electrical equipment and apparatus of the power supply systems”, “protection of electrical engineering equipment and power supply systems”, “power substations”, “power supply systems of electrical engineering equipment and complexes”, “installation of electrical engineering equipment, complexes and power supply systems”, “electric lighting”, “power supply and electrical equipment”).

Master's themes envisage studying eight subjects (“low-power modern equipment of power supply systems”, "experimental planning methods", "automatic control basics", "strengthening electricity reliability and energy quality", "digital systems of electrical engineering equipment control", " high voltage modern power equipment of power supply systems", “digital systems of frequency adjustable electric actuator control”, "digital devices of the protection of power supply systems").

Seven of the nine subjects envisaged by the bachelor’s specialization and two of the eight master's themes are provided by the laboratory. Consequently, the laboratory works are carried out at the Faculty Training Center "Schneider Electric Electric Telasi" laboratories, equipped with modern technologies - "Low Voltage Power Supply", "Average Voltage Power Supply", "Microprocessor Control Systems of Electrical Engineering Equipment and Complexes", "Control, Registration and Management of Electrical Power Systems Protection, "Frequency Adjustable Asynchronous Electric Actuator”. The work is also conducted in the laboratories of the "Electricity Consumption Technologies" department - "Electrical Lighting", "Control of Electrical Technologies" and "Control and Monitoring of Power Quality Indicators".

During the study, students have training practice and internships in distribution companies, enterprises and installation organizations (JSC "Telasi", "Georgia Electrical installation", JSC Tbilkhelsatsko".).

Specialists trained in the Department will be employed: in power supply networks of the cities, enterprises and villages; at distribution companies; in electrical technology Complexes; in the Metropolitan and Railway; In the enterprises processing agricultural products, chemical and metallurgical enterprises, enterprises of mechanical processing and construction materials; in the machine manufacturing plants; at lift service and urban water supply systems; at the construction companies; in the power equipment installation, repair and construction bureaus; at the sectorial scientific-research and design organizations.

The teaching process in the department is led by: five professors, three associate professors, one teacher, one senior teacher and five assistants. One specialist and two laboratory assistants serve the department.

The department is located on the seventh floor of GTU 8th building.

The Department actively cooperates with the Kharkov National Technical University, KhPI - chair of Electro-Mechanical Systems (Ukraine) and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg - Institute of Electrical Systems (Germany) on the scientific-technical and academic issues.

The Department also cooperates with the representatives of the world leading electrical equipment manufacturer companies of "Schneider Electric", "Sedmax", "V-TAC" in Georgia and also with the installation companies “Montage Georgia” and JSC "Tbilkhelsatsko".’
