Dominic Shug, Assistant Professor at Saarland University of Technology and Economics, delivered online lecture on "Urban Mobility - A Perspective for the Future" on June 11, 2021, at 10:00 am by the ZOOM program with students of the Georgian Technical University. The lecture was also attended by professors from both universities.
Assistant Prof. Shug noted that in recent years in Germany the population of the cities increased because of many reasons. The development of public transport in the city has many benefits for citizens, such as low, fully predictable costs. Assist. Prof. Shug also discussed the essence of multimodal and intermodal transport and their advantages / disadvantages. Assistant Prof. Shug shared his vision for traffic optimizing in major European cities (for example, Augsburg, Germany) with students.
Assistant Prof. Shug also presented his vision about urban mobility development by 2050 in EU countries. Namely the growing development of communications; Expectations for continuous routes and intermodal integration; Generalization and expansion of co-operation practices (so-called Sharing Economy); Also, raising environmental awareness.
The lecture was attended by undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students and professors of the Faculty of Business Technologies of GTU. The lecture was well accepted by the students.
