Concerning the Constitutional Agreement between the State of Georgia and the Orthodox Church
On November 5, 2019, thematic meeting on the issues of constitutional agreement of Georgia was organized by the Research Institute of Public Administration (RIPA).
The Constitutional Agreement signed between the State of Georgia and the Orthodox Church of Georgia in 2002 is a document created relations between the State and the Church as a separate entity.
In the process of implementation of this act, the problem of relations between the church and the state, the mechanisms of securing freedom of religion and belief and other issues were discussed by the The priest Bidzina Gunia and the Director of RIPA professor Mariam Tsatsanashvili.
A discussion was held on the issues:
- What are the legal and ideological grounds for a constitutional agreement?
- What are the forms of cooperation between the church and the state in the field of education ?
- What problems arose in the process of implementation of the constitutional agreement?
- What are the trends in the development of cooperation between the Church and the State on issues of mutual interest to the public and what are the guarantees for religious freedom?
